Description They were growing in the Azalea Bowl of Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, GA. I didn't take notes so I don't know their scientific or common name. I decided to give them a name of my choosing in titling this image. 'Flame' is for the very long pistils typically found for brightly colored flame azaleas. The cluster of flowers is more of a trait I associate with rhododendrons than with azaleas. Hence... Flame Rhododendrons!
Allan Carrano, Spartanburg, SC Member Since July 2016 Artist Statement I've been an avid photographer most of my adult life, but I found a more secure livelihood in being a scientist...my other talent; not that I haven't had success as an amateur and part time professional photographer. I've been published in magazines and scenic calendars. I've also won awards, including Kodak's International Newspaper Awards (KINSA). Among some 250,000 entries, my photo placed 2nd in the color category, and was exhibited at Kodak's Epcot Pavilion in Disney World and in National Geographic Explorers Hall in Washington, D.C. Now that I've entered my retirement years, I am devoting full time to creating photographic art and sharing the results through Imagekind.
