Artist Statement For Elena painting has been always not just her passion, but an important part of life and work. She focused on the establishment of her painting as a vital form of her personal expression, and expanded her research in terms of language, content and technique. In the early years she created drawings and paintings which presented figurative art. Later the research moves in the direction of color and space compositions.Now her paintings communicate a visionary experience. The manipulation of space, shape and color in her artwork gives the strong energetic and vital effect: images full of colors and space compositions that are distinguished by complexity, fragmentation and accumulation. A huge impulse came from studying the works of modern art especially from Alberto Burri and Mark Rothko. Also painting’s technique gives to viewer the sensation of material form. She uses mixed technique, with strong use of oils and acrylic, including sometime also encausto. Elena studied at The National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kiev, where she got a degree in history of art. After university Elena worked as art critic for government institution and art galleries, later in the photography sector. In 2010 she moved in Italy where she works exclusively as artist. Since 2001 Elena’s art works have been exhibited in Ukraine and Italy in several personal and group shows.
