Artist Statement Hello!

I go by Loki, nice to meet you! I'm an Army Veteran. I've been creating my whole life, but I've recently made the decision to make art my vocation instead of my passion.

I use my art to assist in better understanding myself. Because of this there's a few things that tend to have a reoccurring influence over my art. I'm a veteran with PTSD, a survivor, gender fluid, femme, abrosexual, a gamer, a scientist, and a believer in self and community care. None of these things are so important they encompass the entirety of my personality or my artwork, but they do tend to have a say over the pieces I make and the way I choose to share my view of the world.

My mother was an artist and my father a musician. I grew up surrounded by new things being brought to life. Most of the mediums I've explored have been simply because I saw my mother doing something I wanted to try. I will always fall back to illustration as the art form that makes it easiest to convey my emotions and thoughts. When I was young I drew by hand, and have moved onto a digital canvas in recent years.

There are a lot of artists that I love and tend to emulate. When I take photos I tend towards Carrivagio's style of chiaroscuro. With illustration I tend towards the abstract expressionists. I don't set out to do this, I just get a thought in my head, and play around with it on canvas until I feel it's done.

I'm on Instagram: @loki_argent
I keep most of my work on there, along with projects I do just for fun. It's also an easy way to get hold of me.
