Artist Statement Jacqueline Spear is a business student emphasising in the study of human behavior. She encourages self expression in all aspects of her life whether its personal or professional. Creating art defines her emotions as she trys to "make it happen" in the new millenia. Her artwork displays the trials and tribulations she endures as the new becomes the old and hard work and patience become obsolete. In this day and age the deisire for immediate gratification is overwhelming, a focus on layering and use of glazes in works allows for a much needed sense of control that would be lost otherwise. She was born on Long Island, New York and grew up there until the age of 18 when she departed to persue her education. A culture shock, she moved to a small college town with no contact and no comfort. Leaving all she had behind she created a new life, new friends and she began to paint. After two years she rejoined her family, who had moved to Florida to continue school and redevelope the relationships she had left behind. Migrating to Florida she again, left everything she knew behind for a new enviornment and new revalation. She currently resides in Orlando, persuing her edjucation and works in retail, retail... which makes for interesting views on society as well as the world in general. Such an arena is truly a display of philanthropy and misanthropy as one person tackles the other to get that oh so needed pair of overpriced shoes or that very last Christmas gift. Jacqueline uses bright colors to emphasis that even in our darkest corner there is still light and even in the negative we can still find positive. For example, you broke your ankle while roller blading, look at the bright side, you could have broken your whole leg.
