Artist Statement I've always had a passion for land, a feeling for land spaces. So I spent a career as environmental scientist, studying land, learning how ecosystems function. My work took me all across Canada and many countries around the world.

Through painting in watercolor and oils, I grew my ability to appreciate different hues and shades in prairie grasslands, mountains, wetlands and forests. Incorporating digital techniques, I discovered additional ways to portray flows of colour in the subjects, bringing out entirely new and unexpected possibilities.

At first glance, nature can appear pretty chaotic. But whether one considers it science and natural selection or the work of spirits, there is considerable order inside the chaos. The fine balance between the two is the zone in which I work.
