Description Exploring the way that colours interact and affect emotion, this work combines traditional watercolour techniques with the archetypes of abstract expressionism. Using highly pigmented paints there is clear definition in the layers of colour, but it retains the transparency that allows each layer to influence the next. The original is produced on heavily textured 100% cotton watercolour paper.
Ian McHugh, London Member Since June 2007 Artist Statement Way back when, I studied both fine art and photography, but found myself drawn away, I became one of those things you find a lot of in London, someone who studied art and then played the blues, like Eric Clapton or Ron Wood, only not as talented or famous. What hasn't faded for me was my love of art and especially photography, I carried on taking photographs, and through my recent discovery of Flickr began to explore the posibility of taking this more seriously than I had previously. I hope you like what you see, and enjoy my work.
