Artist Statement

My fascination with impossible figures started when I was very young, about 11 years old, seeing Oscar Reutersvärd's figures on stamps. I did not start to draw my own until I was 13, when I found an impossible tribar in a book, and tried to redraw it from memory. After breaking my mental barrier to intentionally draw something that does not work in reality, I continued drawing other figures.

After a while I thought I had hit the limit of the complexity impossible figures could have while still being enjoyable, and life got busy, so I stopped making them. I never lost my interest though, and at the end of 2006 when I asked myself what I could do to feel unique, I decided I would start drawing them again. At once I made up my mind to try and draw the figures in three point perspective, and late January of 2007 I had researched enough about drawing techniques, software and presentation to get started. Since then I have polished my methods, but the essence is the same.
