My Mother said I began my art career at an early age.... around age five I began to dabble with finger-paints and I painted numerous portraits of fingers. She remembers that I was a rebel even at that young age, as she recalls telling me to clean up my finger-paints and I gave her the finger.

By the time I entered high school, in the early 70's, I was exposed to the underground comix art movement… that was a big influence on me, and it inspired me to start cartooning big time…. developing some unusual characters and a bit of a sarcastic streak… My Mother always said I was a bit of a smart ass, which I would reply "That's better than being a dumbass"… I still have a scar on my forehead from one of those exchanges.

I now spend my time painting my unusual observations in a low-brow, pop-surrealism style. My Mother is no longer around, but if she was, I can picture her raising her eyebrows and asking me why can't I be a good boy and just paint normal pretty pictures.
