Artist Statement I'm Carlos Melendez, I'm a Photographer and a VBA Developer / Business Analyst (According to my family it's the other way around. Just about everyone in my immediate family is a developer of some sort, but this is MY blog! hehehehe.) I'm Puerto Rican was born in Bayamon and spent a majority of my childhood living in Puerto Rico. Finished grade school in Delray Beach, Fl and am currently living in Charlotte, NC. I Enjoy studying things like Photography, Programming Languages, Religion, Foreign Languages, Social Psychology, and Sociology. So needless to say, I normally have a stack of books, or a bookbag full of books, headphones, and an MP3 or CD player wherever I go.

To catch you up on how this journey has gone I've been taking pictures all my life. I used to beg my dad to let me borrow his camera more than I used to ask for the car keys, but I wasn't much into the 'artform' portion of it until about a few years ago when I saw a few Wedding photographer portfolios and was amazed at how beautiful and expressive as some of the images felt and got this 'I can do this' feeling so I picked up my camera and started reading books and going through roll after roll of film (Yes... I started on film) practicing technique and understanding the hows and the whys of my camera. then begun working on expression in still life and landscape etc. Then I started photographing people and boy did I get hooked. I started working on more conceptual projects, and have been progressing over the years searching for my own edge, my own look and refining it continuosly. I currently manage my portfolio on Http://melendezphoto.com I'm also working on an online gallery to try and sell some abstracts, still, and a few people images soon. I'm also trying to expand my business model to include wedding or portrait photography to the general public rather than trying to remain exclusive to the fashion world. So that's the nutshell version of the photographic journey so far. I hope You enjoy the journey and support the art.
