Artist Statement Photographer Margaret Hyde was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. Margaret is a travel photographer who was recently invited to Bhutan and Liberia as guests of both governments. Her photography has been featured in both solo and group exhibitions.

Hailing from a philanthropic legacy, Margaret’s family founded the Hyde Family Foundations (HFF). Both Margaret and HFF are also deeply involved with the National Civil Rights Museum as supporters and donors. Margaret takes an active role in her family’s dedication to service, justice and equality, which led to her producing the Academy & Emmy-nominated documentary short, “The Witness: From the Balcony of Room 306,” about the last days of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s life. Her photography was prominently featured in this endeavor.

In addition to being a filmmaker, she has been a book author for many years. She first wrote a modern take on the Goldilocks tale called, “Dreadilocks and the Three Slugs,” followed by the popular, “Great Art for Kids,” series and the, “Mo’s Nose” series of books about a dog who can smell colors.

Margaret’s most recent series of photos feature lustrous objects are inspired by her many years of living in and around nature.
