Description Refracted light from the rising sun forms a halo in high clouds to accent the silhouette of a palo verde tree in the desert east of Phoenix, Arizona. Halos are formed when ice crystals in high cirrus clouds align and refract sunlight light millions of tiny prisms.
Frank Zullo, Phoenix, AZ Member Since May 2011 Artist Statement I have been a professional photographer for about 40 years. Whether as a documentary film cameraman, a television news cameraman or a trudging-through-the-wilds, staying-up-all-night nature photographer, I always seem to be looking through a viewfinder exploring and trying to capture one of life's many interesting aspects.
I am a true lover of the desert with its hard-edged landscapes and wide open skies. Most recently I have been focusing my explorations on Native American rock art and archaeoastronomy.
