Nina Stamus Member Since June 2011 Artist Statement My Dad was a sculptor and worked for General Motors so I was introduced to art at an early age. I studied at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and, over the years, have made extensive studies of forms and techniques.
While sticking mainly with acrylics I have painted on a wide variety of surfaces: seashells, slate, wood, plastic, emu eggs, etc. My favorite subject matter is animals and am inspired by artifacts from ancient Greece.
Currently I am working on larger canvases depicting landscapes and the human figure. I am also experimenting with color, texture and mood. I am also working on smaller works featuring local, beach scenes.
