Artist Statement I am a Great Lakes artist, working in Oil, Watercolor & Mixed Media. Nature inspires me, from the oceans of the Caribbean to the Great Lakes & quiet woods of Michigan. Time immersed outdoors strongly influences how I see the world. It flows like water into my private inner world.

My more abstract work reflects that inner life. I like solitude, often learning my deeper life lessons from observing while outside, usually while kayaking, fly fishing or hiking - when you forget yourself & are just there, present & part of it all

...in the flow of life & open to "Aha" moments.

Those 'Aha' "Wonder Moments" are core to my inspiration and I work to carry that energy & experience into my work.

I've found using paint made from just traditional healing minerals (mixed with a natural binder) such as lapis lazuli, amethyst, turquoise, elevates the experience of creating & hope it transfers to those experiencing my work.

I believe of the many things art can do & be, healing is one. Both for the person creating & those experiencing.

My intent as I paint is to transmit/share the love, peace, inspiration & joy I experience. I'm fortunate to be outside daily, organic gardening, beekeeping, chicken wrangling, hiking.

I work mainly out of my home studio in Michigan but am moving increasingly outdoors to better capture the light & 'wonder'.

Always running in the background is my urgent concern for our environment.
