Description 'Heartbreak'Tearing apart families, brothers and sisters, and children of the sky.Heartbreak existsno matter where you lie.In death and in friendships lost.Where do you go after it's happened so many times?Frantic and sobbing, hurtmore than pain itself.Heartbreak exists...and then exits your life, one day at a time.by Ashley Brake
Ashley Brake, St Petersburg, FL Member Since September 2010 Artist Statement "The final test of a painting, theirs, mine, any other, is: does the painter's emotions come across?" - Franz Kline
Ashley Brake is a local artist residing in Orlando, FL. She primarily produces Contemporary Abstract pieces with unique color usage and broad subject matter.
If you could describe what Ashley Brake's art is all about, it would be Franz Kline's words of painter to canvas relationships. Her ability to convey emotion through brushstroke or pattern is evident in every piece completed. Often times her end product is unknown due to the free-spirited, curious and chaotic way she paints.
Ashley's goal is to become a household name around the globe. Through her work, she desires to achieve recognition for her ability to pull her audience in. Her main focus is to achieve a full-time artist position as a primary means of income. She is driven to make work for her favorite stores and designers such as Betsey Johnson, Urban Outfitters, Forever21 and modern vintage shops.
Ashley Brake has two pieces of art hanging at The Sanford Wine Company in Sanford, FL. Local restaurants and bars such as The Mellow Mushroom and Underground Bluz have displayed her pieces. Her first public showing sold two pieces.
Other accomplishments include a $100 contest win, sponsored by The Artist In You as well as a nomination for Artist of the Year, 2011.
Her work, 'Tsunami' was featured on www.Imagekind.com as a charity piece for Japans Earthquake in 2011.
Words from others about Ashley's work:
"Ashley Brake is an amazing artist. The very first painting I saw by Ashley made such an impact on me. Her "Stop Abuse" painting caught my eye from the intense use of color to the strong message. Upon reading the description, I discovered Ashley the Artist. She is a passionate, kind and very talented artist. Since then, it has been my pleasure to see her paintings. I would have to say her abstracts are my favorite. Her style stands out amongst others. To be able to spot Ashley's work amongst countless other artworks to me, is brilliant. Her art captivate's and inspires me. One of the interesting things about Ashley is her ability to share a little of herself in each piece of art. From her playful humour to her deep beliefs. Knowing Ashley and her artwork is my honor. I look forward to all that is yet to come from this outstanding person and artist!" -Karsten Mouras
"Ashley Brake is like a pallet full of chocolates – you never know what visual treat you’re going to get next - you just know it will be tasty! Through her art she has opened her mind to us for a peek at the artist as muse. We are witness to the absurd, the abstract, the sublime, the silliness, but there is always growth and new awareness. To snatch a phrase, “her best work is her next”". - Bill Mims
