Artist Statement I am now retired and have time to paint all day, if I wish. Because I suffer from arthritis, I am not able to stand in front of an easel for hours like I use to do when I was younger. I have to give my son credit for getting me back painting. A few years ago, Devon was creating humorous people with MS Paint and selling greeting cards with his caricatures. Of course, I became his manager, editor and web master for his web site with Fine Art America. His artwork can be viewed at this link. http://fineartamerica.com/profiles/devon-walton.html
Last summer, I had a medical crisis that caused me to lose vision in my left eye, and became permanently blind in this eye. I started using MS Paint to do paintings of flowers on the computer, soon discovered that I loved it, and that I was painting better with one eye than when I had two functioning. Being familiar with Devon's painting technique, I took his technique and added my own finesse to my creations. The result is amazing because I've been creating miniature oil paintings of flowers. I call this collection, “Heavenly Flowers” because some of these flowers are so illumined by light that they leap out to you from the page. The Heavenly Flowers collection has just had it's fourth printing as blank note cards, and they are becoming popular locally.
