Artist Statement I received my first camera from Santa on my eighth Christmas. My first
photographs were of my stuffed animals, my most cherished possessions. As a young mother I photographed my children, the family land in Georgia, the mountains of Colorado. As a student exploring the formal elements of image making and the craft of photography, the themes of my imagery varied; my subjects were my children and the landscape of my new home, Ohio.

I believe 'art' to be an expression of self, conscious or unconscious; an inner
song that finds voice in the outside world in images, sounds, objects, our
homes, our external landscape, how we decorate our bodies, our lives. In the
nurturing of that voice and examination of the symbols of my inner life I have chosen, throughout the years, to put within the frame what is close at hand, what I most love.

I have made a living through some form of commercial imagery for more than
25 years; as a photographer, stock photography agent and as a commercial film and video producer. I attended The Ohio State University, Department of
Photography and Cinema and have received an Ohio Arts Council grant in
photography. I continue to explore the song, the story of my life, through
image making, color, textiles, my gardens, my home; and use as subject what is close at hand, what I love.
