Description Painting: Hineni Here I am' Date: April 2011 Scripture: Isaiah 6:8Here I am was painted sitting in my yellow convertible Mustang. Why do I tell you this? Well, its unusual. But its true. Every morning after getting up early I would go to a nearby park, listen to music and either sketch or paint. It was there in my mobile sanctuary that I could reflect and allow myself to experience moments of gratefulness. As I drank in the fresh morning beauty it fed my soul. Painting was still rather new to me but quickly became a passion. I knew the flames in this painting captured the essence - the spark that had come to life in me. I didnt just want to paint I HAD to paint! I simply heard the call, and I answered Hineni. In my understanding, Hineni is mostly used when God personally calls on someone in the Bible to do something difficult and important. Abraham? 'Here I am.' Moses? 'Here I am. It's very complete and emotionally charged, and implies, 'Here I am: ready, willing and able.' As I added more color, texture and contrast on the canvas of Hineni the meaning of this statement went to a deeper place. My inner voice became resonant and resolute. Here I stand. Here I will make my stand. I know what will most likely happen, but it doesnt matter, since I will not be moving. This is where I am going to take my stand. Hineni.
