Artist Statement Sharon Mason is an award-winning artist whose work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in group and solo exhibitions. Her work is in many private collections.
Sharon began her art career as a black and white photographer. Studies in studio lighting led her to establish a graphic design business.
Her interest in digital media began in the early 1990′s. Prior to that time she had been a purist, shooting only with black and white film. Her exploration of new media using a computer and color slides, led to experimentation with various other printmaking methods and media. She began a concentrated study in studio art techniques at Vermont College in Montpelier, VT. Her advanced studies include photographic printmaking, the art of the handmade book, watercolor, acrylic and encaustic wax painting, paper making, stained glass, fused glass and bead-making. The work in the Retrospective Gallery is an exploration of her progression through various media and techniques.
Sharon continues her photographic work but she is also working with Encaustic Painting and Art Bookmaking.

In 2011 Sharon and her husband John, an avid photographer, established Porch View Studio. Their goal is to encourage artists to use their talents to create change in the world.
