Description The Carruth pedestrian Bridge over the Buffalo Bayou looking toward the Police Memorial with the Houston skyline after dark in the background. You can see the blue lights that were install by the Kinder Fountation all along the trail that turn the trees blue along with the Police Memorial. This was just one of many improvement that have been made in the parks. On the Kinder Foundation site it states that this was 'Inspired by Buffalo Bayou Partnerships Sabine Promenade project and the organizations 2002 Master Plan, the Kinder Foundation approached Buffalo Bayou Partnership in 2010 to serve as the catalyst funder with a grant of $30 million, one of the largest gifts to Houstons park system, for improvements to the existing 160-acre, 2.3 mile stretch of the bayou from Shepherd Drive to Sabine Street. The project goal was to restore the area to a more natural and self-sustaining state, reintroduce native landscapes, and add amenities to enhance safety and convenience for visitors.'
