Artist Statement Photography has allowed me to both escape from and immerse myself in the realities of the dynamic world in which we live. It allows me to choose what I see and exercise the creative side of my life. I am an ENFP who has multiple muses.

Growing up in Southern California, I spent many hours traveling and printing in the darkroom with my Father. Even though he specialized in large format photography (4 x 5), only breaking from time-to-time to utilize his Nikon 8008, the large negatives used for printing proved beneficial while learning the photographic process, though I use to scoff at spending hours upon hours printing with him. Today I wish I had spent more time and ironically enough spend hours upon hours in from of the machine processing my shots; He has not printed in years.

My first "real" camera, not counting those that contained 110-400 ASA film or disk film (I am dating myself), was a Minolta SR-T201 (1966-1981). It contained one small watch battery for the light meter but worked like a champ and still does. Who knew that people are still willing to service these!

I won't bore you with what I have used since then, but today I use a Nikon D80 Digital SLR. I made the jump from a Nikon N90s about 8 months ago and haven't looked back since (May of 2007).
