Artist Statement 1900-1975 VILNA JORGEN MORPURGO (born Countess Adele Vilhelma Ludvikke Larsen-Nilsen in Oslo, Norway, married Jarl Erling Jorgen-Orme, Baron Attilio G. Morpurgo, M.D.) has exhibited all over Europe and the USA. Originally using the pen name of Adele Vinje, she was a member of the Paris 'La Horde'. Under one or another of her names, her works made part of collections of multiple royal families as well as in the Stockholm Hus Moderne, and in many private collections in multiple countries. She also represented Norway in the 1939-40 New York World's Fair and in the United Nations Artists in America Exhibition at the Argent Galleries in 1943, 1944, 1948. She also had one-person shows at Argent, Montross, Roko, Norheim Galleries, The Riverside Museum and New York Public Libraries. Vesterheim, the National Norwegian-American Museum, presently circulates some of her work in their collection multinationally. The Savant Garde Institute presently owns all copyrights to the reproduction of her works, including many stolen works that have yet to be located and repossessed.
