Artist Statement I have always been drawn to painting people. From the time I was a child , painting living things gave me great joy. At two years old , drew ballet dancers and horses. I went to college for a major in medical illustration, but realized that I wanted to do fine art. The courses that I had to take were geared for pre med students, not artists so I quit after almost 2 years and moved to San Francisco to draw portraits in charcoal and pastel on the streets.
That was the best education in art and it has influenced the way that I work today.
Many trials and tribulations take over a persons life, and all of those experiences translate into the artist that you are. I worked in other industries for almost 40years until coming back to my God given talent of portraying people as an artist, just recently.
I am now taking workshops from the talented artists that I respect and strive to become better always. I also enjoy teaching and sharing things that have helped me along my career path to others who have the desire to learn.
I hope that my work evokes feelings from those who see it and that it moves them to want to have it permanently
