Artist Statement My love of photography began when I picked up my first camera. I used to drive my mother nuts by taking pictures of anything or anyone. It wasn’t until I was older that I realized my desire to share my vision and interpretation of the world with others.

My goal is to highlight everyday objects and force viewers to see the item in a new light. I pride myself on taking passionate and emotional powerful images. I find inspiration in nature, architecture and most profoundly in religious structures and statues.

I equate my passion for religious imagery to my father. My father and I were extremely close and had a lot in common. The three biggest loves of his life were family, education and God. He was a deeply religious man who insisted that we attend mass every week, even if we were on vacation. I remember him reading the Bible to my brother and I as bedtime stories. His rosary beads must have been worn to the bone from repeated use. He was one of the biggest influences in my life. Whenever I take or develop a religious photo I feel a connection to him and I feel as if he is still with me.

I shoot in black-and-white, as well as color. I prefer to use black-and-white for the religious photos because of the texture and dimension that can be created.
