Artist Statement BIOGRAPHY: Barry Knauff
Barry is a self-taught artist who was born and raised in Portsmouth, Ohio. He moved to North Carolina in 1993 with his family. Barry’s fascination with art began in grade school as he was always drawing and sketching on his notepad when he had the chance. Barry’s Military service offered him the opportunity to visit the countries of Italy, Spain, and Croatia; and this is where Barry developed and even stronger passion to pursue his artistic ability. After his Military tour, and in enrolled in college, Barry began creating new pieces in his free time. Many of his early works were given as gifts to family and friends. Today, Barry continues to create artwork inspired by his foreign travels and his love for texture. Barry’s elements include layers of texture, vibrant acrylic based colors, and framed hardboard to create his works. Barry currently specializes in Geometrical abstract and nautical inspired seascapes. Barry currently has his nautical seascapes for viewing at Tidewater Gallery in Swansboro,NC and the Antiques and Uniques gallery in Emerald Isle, NC. Barry’s Abstract artwork is currently on display at Carolina Creations in New Bern, NC.
