Artist Statement Why the best quality Art draws emotion.

What I want to create is something that inspires a sense of joy to the senses beyond just sight. I want people to be able to feel it not just see it, I want them to taste it, to enjoy it on so many sensual levels. This is what I strive to create, a piece of Art that will bring joy to anyone and everyone who is fortunate enough to feel its presence.
Have you ever experienced this unusual situation, where you can’t explain it but you truly feel moved by the Art piece and you just can’t put your finger on why. That is when the intention of the Artist lives on in the Art even though it may have been created a lifetime ago. The Artist strives, worked and sacrificed, overcame frustration after frustration to be able to express himself in his work. And not only express himself; but to enable the piece to raise these feeling in the people who experience it.
This is what separates a true Artist from a person who calls themselves an artist, to create a piece of Art that inspires the Artists emotions in people that is what an Artist lives for and ultimately dies striving for. The emotion you inspire is not as important as the inspiration itself. Be it Joy, Anger, Anxiety, Surprise, Trust, Grief, Fear, Love, or Hate which emotion is not important it is the creating of the emotion in the person having the experience that is truly important.
The easiest emotion to inspire are negative emotions, it’s pretty easy to make a piece that is dark and people dislike it straight away or they feel Angry but don’t know why, I believe the hardest emotions are to convey from your Art are positive emotions. To lift a person’s spirit even if they do not understand it is the Art that is inspiring emotions in them. Have you ever felt a strong emotion like Anger, but you have no idea why you are angry and it doesn’t seem to make any sense. Generally we all have it is something in our environment that makes us feel this way, but it is not obvious what it is.
Once you can create Art that truly inspires emotion and involves more than one of the senses the more the merrier. Then you are at the pinnacle of true Artistic creation. Of course different people will behave very differently one may feel nothing at all while other people experience a rainbow of sensations and emotions. The response to Art is an individual experience and the Artist must remember this, the old saying “you can please some of the people some of the time” applies.
But you must be trying to satisfy your strongest desires to turn every blank canvas into a masterpiece that inspires the whole world to feel something. I always try to be original and I am always experimenting to try something new. It is important not to set limitations on what you do or what you think but rather to use your primal instinct to create. If you can do this then there is a very good chance that emotions will transfer to your Art work.
Why do people enjoy skydiving or a rollercoaster ride, it is because it forces them to feel sensations and emotions they don’t normally get a chance to feel. It is also why people are so in love with a particular piece of Art because there is a change in their sensual and emotional feelings when they are in its presence. The Artist has done truly created a masterpiece.
