Artist Statement Regina Williams grew up in rural southern Indiana and began taking pictures when she was twenty one years old. Her first subjects were farm scenes, family members, and animals. She attended Madison Consolidated High School.
Williams attended the Ivy Tech State college of Lafayette, IN,majoring in Computer Programming/PC Support. Unable to find work in this field, she pursued photography on a serious level. She started with landscapes and then senior portraits when her eldest daughter turned senior. This also led her to shoot Glamour, and baby/child portraits.
A year and a half later, she relocated to southwest Florida with her husband. Still unable to find work in the Programming sector she took a position with a national company as the Human Resource Director. She began doing senior portraits for locals and was asked to do a small wedding. She continues to take on small jobs such as portrait work and continues feeding her passion for freelance photography.
Her work in HR allowed her to keep a regular paycheck whileexpanding her interest in photography. She continued to do "normal"photo shoots such as weddings, portraits and sorority composites, in which she used the proceeds to purchase new equipment. Her first camera was the Digital Canon Rebel XTi and she purchased several lenses as well. Though she still shoots with her XTi her goals are set to purchase the Canon Mark IV.
She is currently attending college seeking an Associate of Applied Science Degree in nursing. Her future goals are to graduate and take a position with her husband traveling the United States working as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Anesthetist (her husband). This will allow the travel they have always desired and she can continue filling her portfolio with images of places that some can only dream of.
