Artist Statement ART FOR A CAUSE: Little Brown Sparrows is a gallery of collage art and mixed media pieces. The little sparrows in the pieces are a symbolic representation of the 143 million orphans currently in the world. The baby sparrows are different colors, sizes, and come from different places. They now sit together as families and playmates. Families where members do not look alike and may not represent traditional families through the ages. None the less, there is love and a simplistic peace that they have finally found each other. Specifically, in Ethiopia, 1 in 5 children do not reach their 5th birthday. There are 6 million orphans in Ethiopia alone. Little Brown Sparrow, represents the child the artist and her husband plan on adopting from Ethiopia. A portion of the profits from her artwork will be donated towards the Red Letters Campaign.
