Barbara Anne Applegate, Grants Pass Member Since May 2009 Artist Statement Barbara Anne Applegate is a self taught artist, upon retiring in 2007 I paint using oil. In Barbara’s artwork, you will find her most comfortable painting animals, landscapes and seascapes with flair of the southwest where I grew up. Barbara was born in Texas, raised in New Mexico and she has lived in Oregon since 1981, now located in the rural and rugged scenic Rogue River valley, of Southern Oregon. So she paints with a well rounded experience of having lived in various parts of the country, it gives her a familiarity with nature of those areas. Barbara’s art is a reflection of who she is, and what makes her tick. Barbara's compositions use of light and color that have attracted private collectors. Although, a self taught artist, her approach to art is of places remembered from her youth.
