Artist Statement Kaudree
Hi! My name is Kyrstie Audree Lazada, I was born in Cebu, Philippines. I passionately love art and photography. Just the idea of experimenting with creativity is what I love. The mediums I usually work with are fine pen, markers, oil paint, and pastels. I started drawing from a young age and most of my skills as an artist are self taught. Art has always been prevalent in my family. I remember that the very first drawing I drew was a sketch of flowers, the sun and the moon. Ever since, I became connected to it. When I was 8 years old my grandma took me to the University of the Philippines, Cebu Chapter for summer art classes. It gave me so much freedom and appreciation for the love of art. My art teacher in middle school picked the self portrait that I drew and showed it at the art show in school. It boosted my confidence as an artist.
I’ve been through many personal phases such as changing my lifestyle and identity. Then I find my calling by doing yoga, belly dance, meditation and focusing on my art which led me to peace and more self awareness. My works are based on surrealism, between dreams and reality. My inspirations are Salvador Dali, Frida Kahlo and David Lynch. I have always felt connected with nature and the universe. That is why my art usually contains flowers or other natural elements because I believe we are all connected in many ways in this realm.
