Description The hunt for covered bridges on a fine autumn afternoon while the sun beams down between the trees carries you along winding country road after winding country road. Broad expanses of fields transform into narrow, tree-lined, steep lanes and bring you down to where stream and road intersect. And suddenly, there you are ... beside one of the jewels of Central Pennsylvania. Jackson's Mill Bridge, in crisply red-trimmed white, is the quintessential Kissing Bridge of old. As you stand in the brilliant light and shadow and color of the afternoon, you can almost hear the giggles and feel the joy felt by the lovers of long ago. Across the broad face of the roof gable are the words: $5.00 Fine For Riding or Driving Over This Bridge Faster Than A Walk. Built By Karns Rohm 1889. I made the artistic decision to remove them for the image ... but as far as I know, they're still there. Jackson's Mill Bridge is tucked away a few miles south of Breezewood, PA. I've tried to find it again ... but without luck! Image hand-painted in Corel Painter with stylus and many digital brushes from a photo I took in October 2008, a great year for fall colors!!
Lois Bryan Member Since October 2018 Artist Statement Welcome to Lois Bryan Photography and Digital Art at imageKind. I'm a photographer and digital artist living in the mid-Atlantic area of the US. My images are based on the photos I capture ... some are straight photography, some are edited and tinkered with to enhance mood and theme, and some are sketched and digitally painted completely freehand. Although my goal will always be to catch that perfect shot straight out of the camera, I truly love exploring the artistic and creative process as I work with Photoshop and other image editing programs. Hope you find something that brings a smile!!
