Artist Statement Here's a little information about me....
Greetings to you. My name is Ferman Smith. My love affair with art began at about the age of five. Becoming an artist has always been my dream. I can remember stealing single sheets of typing paper from my mother's typewriter to sketch whatever came to mind. Born under the sign of Gemini, it is in my inherent nature to stand of the edge of adventure and feel the wind. As a student of the martial arts, a long time practitioner of meditation, and scholar of various religious schools, I seek to express my appreciation for the universe through my drawings and paintings.

I am fascinated with creating compositions involving various textures. For example, in my composition "Forever Young", I wanted to involve the various textures of feathers, timber, glass, plastic, eggshells, and shiny surfaces to create something interesting. I believe in the poetry of differences. It gives way to the dance of light and shadow. The balancing act of shadow and reflection.

As a self represent artist, I am offering open edition prints. In the future, I will offer limited edition prints of some of my work which will be hand signed and be sent with a "Certificate of Authenticity". I am sure you will enjoy these high quality prints produced through Imagekind, as they have taken great measures to provide you with quality service.

I am inspired by the great classical masters, Michelangelo and Leornado Da Vinci. I have benefited greatly by the kind advice of artists such as J.D. Hillberry, Armin Mersmann, and Mike Sibley. These fine artists have contributed greatly to my art education and I thank them openly. When I am not composing, I enjoy spending time with my family, writing poetry, photography, and reading.

Enjoy your visit. If you like my gallery, please sign up as a fan, or send me a message, or both. I look forward to talking with you soon.
