Artist Statement I have always loved art but have been limited in my ability to draw and paint. My father and uncle were tremendous artists as are my brother and cousin. It wasn't until I discovered photography that I knew I had found the right medium.

I worked at a small Los Angeles newspaper for four years and learned a lot. I attended California Institute of the Arts and mentored under documentary photographer Alan Sekula, photographer Kaucyila Brooke and independent film maker Billy Woodberry.

My most current work deals with the themes of memory, family and violence. I am particularly interested in the role images play in memory. I work frequently with image along with text. The text is often stream of conciousness writing or writing that has been cut and pasted to reflect the fractured nature of memory. This became more personal to me when my father developed Alzheimer's. I continue to work on my artwork although the Polaroids and accompanying test are difficult to display in this forum. I am working on some ideas and hope to have a desired result I can post
