Artist Statement I would certainly not call myself a landscape artist but the main theme running through my work originates from the fast paced flashy, throw away urban landscapes around us. Recurring themes include buildings, traffic, boatyards, ports & train stations represented in a playful light hearted manner often incorporating objects found in these locations.

Photography usually forms the basis of my work. These can become pieces in their own right, or painted as an abstraction picking out the colours and forms to create a new imaginary space/landscape rather that a direct replica.

I am happy to use any medium available when I paint, I often work with household emulsions but I predominantly use acrylics because I prefer the immediacy, flow and the fact it dries quickly, this makes it easier to layer colour and shapes. I work on board, paper and canvas but I also like the challenge of working on or with found objects which give my pieces an added dimension creating a familiarity with the viewer.
