Artist Statement My love for photography started when I was about to study foreign languages specifically French at a university in Miami, Florida. My oldest brother and I were traveling to the airport in Nassau, Bahamas at sunrise when we passed a rocky beach bordered by homes in silhouette. The sky displayed its beautiful rays of orange, yellow, and pink layers, which reflected on the water. I have always longed to capture a moment like that, which have become apart of my journey. After completing two years at a local college and then, going to a university in Miami, Florida I became exposed to the world of fine art photography through courses of handcolouring and handtoning photographs, pinhole photography, experimenting with the different printing processes and developing film and paper.

In order to be equipped with the digital realm, I studied computer imaging where I was introduced to Adobe Photoshop and colour photography. My knowledge further took hold with the advantage of being exposed to the Studio & Lighting Techniques just before taking the ultimate course called Photography in Paris for a month. It was the best of both worlds where I could utilize photography and foreign languages.

Initially, I was introduced to Infrared Photography by a dear friend who has studied photography most of his life. Over the years, my love for photography has grown in many areas of photography especially black & white infrared photography. Recently, Night and Low-light photography and pinhole photography have been added to my portfolio due to the many travels to regions in North America and Europe where I was given the opportunity to awaken and sharpen my skills and talents. Then, in September of 2006 I participated in the Caribbean Gift and Craft Show held in Bridgetown, Barbados which introduced me to a new medium called encaustics originated from the Greek word “encaustikos”. The word means, “to heat or burn in” and is an ancient painting medium that mixes molten wax with dry pigments and resin.

My concentration on fine art photography keeps me in tune with capturing my own interpretation by documenting buildings or architecture to my love for nature. In September 2006, I opened Third Eye Artworks & Collectibles to create a presence downtown Nassau, Bahamas in showcasing authentic Bahamian artworks.
