Artist Statement There hasnt been a time I wasnt creating in one way or another. I started out doing oils but after having children I got nervous about all the iffy chemicals used and was forced to paint in the bathroom because it was the only room I had in our tiny house where I could close the door.

Well, that got old quick and I switched to watercolors. I've never heard of anyone getting sick off w/c. I did w/c for ten years until I moved into a real home with a real studio where I could close and lock doors and gave oils a try again. After a few months of reaquanting myself with oils I remembered how much I loved them and why and havent looked back since.

I've bounced around with different subject and style until one day two years ago I took a picture of my girls playing in the canal with those huge black inner tubes. The paintings I got from those first pictures gave me that "Wow" factor I was looking for and took me back to my own summers growing up out in the country. Since then it's been sort of my theme and a subject I'll continue to paint untill it doesnt interest me anymore.

Which may be a while. I cant paint in the summer (my house is always full of kids) and instead of fighting it I just relax and use the time to get hundreds of refference photos to paint from. Then as soon as the kids go back to school I have all day all winter to paint without distraction. Only a few more weeks to go and it will finally be painting time again. I can hardly wait.
