Description Kastoria lies in the western side of west Macedonia in Greece. The city is build on a peninsula west of the lake Orestida, 600m above sea level. Prehistorical findings in the lake revealed a neolithic settlement, but the most important finding on the area is the Fossilized Forest with tropical and subtropical plants, 20 million years of age. Lonely and beautiful, unique and exciting, mirroring its complexion in the lake dressed in its Medieval and Byzantine clothing, Kastoria is the most precious historical and physiological jewel of Greece.
Sofia Tsakalou, Nea Philadelphia-Athens Member Since August 2008 Artist Statement My name is Sofia and I'm 40 years old. I enjoy taking photos of any kind and by living in Greece makes it more enjoyable as the scenery (and the people occasionally) is provoking you to do so. Apart from that, listening to the music, read a good book, watch a movie, enjoy a swim, or spent quality time with my family and friends (doing all the above and more), is my favorite times of the day. Greetings from Greece!!!
