Artist Statement Welcome to our gallery! :)
A few about myself and husband..hmm. Well, we have both into art and photography for the better part of our lives. We are also into sketching, painting and writing.
For me, artistry has been my savior, light and inspiration in life. See, I have what is called D.I.D. (Dissociative Identity Disorder, Formerly known as Multiple Personality Disorder) Ordinarily, I wouldn't share this about myself because it is something I struggle with daily and causes stress on both myself and husband. The reason I am sharing this, is to spread awareness about this illness and the stereotypes it has acquired over time. No, we are not crazy, We are not serial killers and we don't switch so dramatically all over the place that we become a big spectacle. The only time that usually happens, is when there is a major trigger.
D.I.D. is formed from severe, repeated childhood trauma. The only way for the child to survive is to escape so deep inside their own mind, that the memory of the trauma is erased as soon as the child regains function. If this happens often enough, the child will create an alternate personality that will hold the memory for them. This allows the child keep functioning as though nothing happened.
Sorry, I went on kind of a tangent but I just want people to understand.
So, in case you've been wondering why our profile keeps 'changing' info, that's why.
