Artist Statement Namaste, Welcome and hello--> I am Kasha B. born with the fire of Sagittarius, graced with the strength & struggle of women's power while finding inspiration from those leading at the edge of discovery--at new creations, writings, technology, science, personal growth & sky pictures. Hence, I have been seeking an alternative way to express myself & my multi-image photography, done in camera, serves that desire, hopefully~~ to your pleasure.
We are all unique and I want to recognize & encourage this quality each of us represent. Some of my family shots capture 3 generations.That’s the story I love to tell the most. In case of emergency~fire, flood~ families would likely save that image first, along with the family gold.
We are taught to not speak highly of ourselves, at least my generation was~” better to be seen than heard”. It took many civil and women's rights actions to escape this sometimes embarrassing quality of limited self expression if not full out self~denial.. Now I want to own & if lucky ~share what I uniquely have available through my Photo Art; as You have uniquely available to you through your bliss.
My subjects are light filled, travel oriented~~[I believe all of us are on a journey even if we never leave our homes] & some of my work celebrates that. Few are just indulgences in color & beauty. Some are statements where “a single picture is worth 1,000 words” work that I hope will open a door in ones mind that has only been ajar so far.
I love the Gallery Pulled Canvas but the use of aluminum is so colorful and light & than I am working more with my photos on slate and combining mediums by adding paint to some parts of a variety of Works..Most of the Images can be enlarged, or framed in a quality of your choice, or hung as a Gallery Pulled Canvas.As I grow, so does my art. & if it resonates with you, please share it. PS. Earned my Masters in Counseling--Psychology--University of Maryland--at Bowie, great Adlerian program. I was in the minority as it is a traditional black college. We all need that kind of experience. Stepping far out of any regular social groupings we normally find ourselves. Walk that mile--or 20--in others shoes.
