Description April 1873 construction was begun on the Little Sable Point lighthouse. At a height of 107 feet and a range of 18 miles in clear conditions, the lighthouse began operation in April 1884. In 1955 the Coast Guard decided to demolish the keepers house, oil storage, barn and boathouse, leaving the tower. Located in Silver Lake State Park on the west coast of Michigan's lower peninsula.
