Description This is the second Deer Island painting i did this January, 2010. Painted on site. It was a cold gray day. I found a sheltered nook behind a bush to block the wind and painted this old tree.
Jeff Atnip, Germantown, TN Member Since November 2009 Artist Statement I enjoy recording my impressions of local landscapes using watercolor as my medium of choice. In my quest to grow as an artist, I am continually striving to avoid cliche's and focus the viewer's attention on often overlooked subject matter. I love the rural south, but I paint wherever I go. I want the viewer to join me and notice the shapes and the shadows, lines and colors that are framed and carved by God's light. My paintings are painted on archival quality paper with archival quality watercolors. The paper is 140 lb. Arches watercolor paper.
