Description Even though they formed a band and had their first hit 2 years before I was born The Rolling Stones Have been one of my biggest influences. It my be weird for a pop artist or painter, or whatever the hell I am to say; music has influenced my work. But These 5 guys truly have. 'Goats Head Soup' was the first album I ever purchased and it literally stopped me in my tracks and left me with my little pimply mouth hanging open. I hope like hell you've had an experience when you hear a band that literally plunges its roots into your soul. I'd never heard anything like it. And the music of 'my generation', simply ceased to exist for a while. I have every song The Stones have ever recorded, including bootlegs, and I have been to EVERY SINGLE Rolling Stones concert since I was 13. EVERY TOUR! If you look closely at my work (and I hope someday you will have the time to do that) you'll see them in brush strokes and themes and humor and, mostly, in my F- you pop art. I have one other image of Keith Richards that I am satisfied with but it took me 5 years to get up the courage to do it. Before that it took me 2 years of looking for the right way to portray Keith, I ended up creating this piece of Mick (which doesn't exist anywhere else by piecing it together using collage techniques. Then rcreating them by eye from scratch, using pastels, charcoal, pencils and some other techniques which I keep secret. SSSSSHHHH. There will be more stones portraits, but I can't promise them anytime soon, because they have to be perfect, like this and the one of Keith. In other words, 'The pool's in but the patio ain't dry!' Peace,TonyOne in a series of pieces showing celebrities in places where they've never ACTUALLY been photographed. I've decided not to show a full view of their faces. Why? Tony Rubino, New York Member Since January 2014 Artist Statement Cool. Original. Affordable. Ready to hang. Welcome. Here you'll find some of my “fine art” pieces: stuff that seeks to comment on pop culture, celebrity, nostalgia and the current melees' of information received through technology. As a syndicated, daily-newspaper cartoonist, some of my work expresses my joy and love of comic art and my frustration at remaining a relevant pop artist in a progressively ailing industry. I achieve these goals by using a combination of, humor, iconology, parody, association and dichotomy — fused and juxtaposed to create high quality drivel. Don't hesitate to contact me if you'd like me to sign your print. I'm also happy to do custom portraits and commissioned artwork. In addition, color palettes can be changed on any of the prints you see here in order to fit the needs of your specific decor. Just ask and I'll make the adjustments.
