A LITTLE BACKGROUND

I was born in Pennsylvania, in a town near the Lancaster County Border, to parents of Italian and Polish origins. I have always had a passion for Photography and Graphic Arts. I believe this comes from a natural ability and is fostered by a great deal of patience. My Brother actually encouraged my interest in Photography by loaning me a Nikon Camera on my first trip abroad when I was 18. My brother actually started a photography business but later gave it up. This allowed me to return his camera 5 years later after extensive use. Within the last 4 years I have moved from 35mm film to exclusively using digital media to capture my subjects. I believe that my work has matured over the years and this transition can be experienced first hand in viewing my recent black and white and sepia images. I have a broad portfolio, with one underlying theme which constantly focuses the attention of the viewer on the subject at hand. I believe, as do many other photographers that all photography is basically an expression of past events. Photography should allow others to share in a moment in time though the eyes and emotion of the artist. It allows the viewer to experience something from an entirely different perspective that they might never stop and do. Today this is important since everyone’s time is limited, so catching a glimpse of something unique or beautiful become increasingly difficult…

I have created various logos and graphics for small and large companies. I was commissioned to provide the 125th Anniversary Logo for Parkesburg, Pennsylvania. I have privately sold and donated my photographic work for various charitable events through the years including a recent donation to an American Cancer Society Fundraiser, Boehringer Ingelheim March of Dimes Fundraiser, 2006 Danbury Hospice Art Show and the Danbury Women’s Center for their May 2007 fundraising event. I currently hold a Master’s of Science Degree and Master’s of Philosophy Degree from the University of Pennsylvania

In addition to my part-time photography work I am also an Pharmaceutical Industry Consultant and Presenter. Some of my additional work (including Metallic Prints) can be viewed at the following website: Www.DMarStudios.coM.
