Artist Statement I was born in the beautiful state of Montana and then raised in Wyoming, in a small town with a whole lot of character. Every since I can remember art has been a part of my life. My mother spotted more than a touch of imagination in my quirky developing personality, and continued to encourage my creativity at every turn. Some of the most important memories in my life involve art, I've always known that I had a deep interest for the expression but while attending high school, I had a revelation! A very amazing art teacher by the name of Mrs. McHattie. She introduced me to a concept that transformed my life; "Art is a tool of self expression", it changed from a bowl of fruit on a table, to conveying some of my most dormant emotions. From that point on I knew art would be my night light, breath of fresh air, and oldest friend that knows all my secrets.
After high school I attended the University of Northern Colorado. I received a stellar education with a wide variety of experiences. I was given many opportunities to showcase my artwork in galleries and was in the top of my class. In 2007, I graduated with honors, attaining a BA in Visual Arts, with an emphasis in Art Education and a concentration in painting.
Since graduating, I have moved to the Golden State. I am currently a professional artist/ high school art teacher and loving every moment of it! My life is art. I'm blessed that I get to share my passion with other people. The biggest honor that I've had, is my students coming and telling me that they have decided to pursue a career in art. I truly feel that my life has come full circle and now I get to just sit back and paint!
