Artist Statement Drawing has always been a very basic part of my nature, and, in a way, it's hard to say too much about it since all of my original impulses towards it are veiled in mystery. As far back as I can remember, though, I've always gotten a certain kind of delight out of watching what's in front of me come to life, and into it's own, revealing what seems to be an agenda and intelligence independent of anything I could have imagined for it. The growth of the image is always a reflection upon me, and an extension of me, and so it always feels profoundly relevant, even if I can't quite put my finger on why it does.

Participation in the creation of any drawing is usually accompanied by feeling of anxious open-endlessness; and the dichotomy of mistake versus success has tended to fade away as I've matured, and, as a result, the images begin perpetually reshaping themselves much more eagerly- always thriving and adapting with greater and greater confidence. Pausing to reflect at a incomplete or complete project often brings in feelings of fatefulness and assurance, which has been a vitally important emotion for me to cultivate throughout my life as I've always struggled with a sometimes overwhelming sense of alienation and apathy.
