Artist Statement Horacio Cardozo was born in Argentina where he studied Architecture and Design at Buenos Aires University and Philosophy at Del Salvador University. His drawing skills and his admiration for fine arts, especially those of the Renaissance period, led him to explore a career in painting since 1987.

His oil paintings display a touch of surrealism and express mythical ideas and concepts as well as philosophical themes. His eagerness to understand the inherent relationship between human nature, the universal order and the underlying reality leads him to create images that attempt to explain that which defies reason.

Horacio oil paintings have achieved a high-end technique on realism, the repetitive theme of ethereal lighting in warm tones exudes a sense of peace and solitude throughout the collection. Horacio recent boat and human figure series are set in a mystic aura and tinted with a subtle beauty.
Horacio has participated in many group exhibitions such as the 3rd Young Art Biennale, 1993; the National Senate, Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1997 and 2000; and in MAC 21, Marbella, Spain, 2000; and The New Zealand Affordable Art Sale, Wellington, New Zealand, and in art galleries in Sydney among others.
Since 2002 Horacio has been living in Auckland, New Zealand and Sydney, Australia where he works as a Graphic Artist and continues to develop his artistic career.
