Artist Statement Rod’s work concentrates on the bold and the graphic, on finding interesting shapes and textures in the natural world. Using every scale from macro to the widest landscapes, his aim is to produce interesting and balanced works of art that work well in any setting.
His main subjects are from the natural world: landscapes, vegetation and geology. Being well travelled his collection includes landscapes and subjects very different to those of the UK.
His other interests lie in architecture, urban landscapes and industry; new angles on ancient monuments, the abstract aesthetics of machinery, the angular language of modern urban areas.
Although primarily self-taught Rod studied photography at the Watershed media centre Bristol.
After several commissions and publications, and innumerable ‘flickr’ postings, we present this work in progress for display here at imagekind.
