Artist Statement I am Dulce Diane Clements. When I was 5 my parents gave me an easel, poster paints and a pad of newsprint paper. I knew from the moment my brush hit the paper that I was an artist.
I work as a production artist. In my spare minutes, which are few and far between, I stipple. It’s a kind of meditation for me, an escape, a place to express my pain and joy.
My art is mostly pen and ink, stipple or pointillism style. Stippling is the pen and ink technique of using small dots to simulate varying degrees of solidity or shading. Stippling is a time-consuming, meditative technique, which has a hypnotic effect on the artist. There is no way to erase mistakes, therefore, each stroke must be carefully planned and executed to perfection. My grandfather, architect Stiles O. Clements has influenced my choice of subjects. As well as my current study of Buddhism. Thank you for visiting my page.
