Description Madison Park Night 18 is a view of Madison Park in NYC at night from the northwest corner of the park, with the Met Life Tower (now the Edition Hotel) showing in the background. I've done several things to this image - I've lightened the 'black' night sky a bit to a dark brown-black so the shadows of the other towers near the Met Life Tower, which are even darker, become faintly visible, and I've intensified the exposure and saturation of the park lights so they have a glowing aura tinged in red, which acts as a contrast, yet balance, to the pale blue-green of the illuminated top of the Met Life Tower.
Ken Lerner, New York Member Since February 2023 Artist Statement I started taking photographs when I was 6. Being the son of a renowned photographer, it was only natural for me to have a camera in my hands at an early age. I was not interested in photographing a real moment perfectly…I was interested in projecting an internal view of that moment, a subjective reality - in the early part of my career, this led me to make almost exclusively multiple exposure images, but in later years, using a combination of techniques of both painting and photography, I produce mostly abstract and geometric works of altered single exposures.
