Artist Statement I love to capture wildlife, ships, and the simple pleasures of life on the chalky, pastel medium. I started drawing over thirty years ago selling most of my original framed works from the walls of restuarants, primarily throughout Wyoming, Montana, and South Dakota (under my aka, Susie Young). Presently, I am working on wildlife, beloved pets and western themes.

The ole' battleships hold a very special place in my heart. They were inspired by my heartfelt desire to encourage my own family as well as other families to 'stay the course' and sail through the trouble times that may surround them; to be ready and well able to stand your ground, protect your house and family with integrity and grit, while standing up for the freedoms we have obtained by the sacrifices of our forefathers and our armed forces, past and present. My battleships have become a favorite of many and it is with great pleasure that I offer these as prints.

Mango Tree art is from the children's book, Mango Tree, which is a true story, based on the childhood adventures of the author, Karyn Hughes; published by Tate Publishing. I co-authored and illustrated Mango Tree with full color pastel art, and also offer kids apparel and gifts with the 'tropical wonder' designs of Mango Tree on zazzle.com by Susiegale!

Additionaly, my true story, Children in the Hands of a Mighty Mom, demonstrates the power of faith, hope, and love that changes things. Truly an encouragement to parents, helping them to 'stay the course' regardless of the storms. Available from amazon.com and wherever books are sold. You can find my Mighty Mom designed apparel and gifts on zazzle.com by Susiegale.
