Description From the summit of Mount Chiquita at 13000+ feet above sea level. I was taking pictures of Ypsilon Lake, about 2400 feet lower in elevation, when this friendly yellow-bellied marmot popped its head up. The beautiful azure lake provides a stunning backdrop to the earthtones of the marmot's fur. The marmot's face is in sharp focus, as are the boulder and lichen on the left side of the photograph and many of the flowers in the foreground. The bokeh of the more distant and closer objects is quite pleasing.
Rocke Verser, Colorado Member Since August 2013 Artist Statement I began my attempts at serious photography as a teenager, using my mother's Argus C3, black and white film, and a darkroom in the bathroom. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to experiment with a variety of films formats, and technologies. I've done portraits from baby pictures to senior pictures. I now shoot primarily with Canon DSLRs. My favorite location is Rocky Mountain National Park. (Should I admit I have about 40,000 images of RMNP?) I'll be posting a few of my most favorite images.
